Brent Bond

Brent Bond was born in and raised in Oklahoma, Brent Bond moved to Southern California where he received his BFA in Printmaking from California State University - Long Beach. In 1994 he relocated to Tempe, Arizona to attend Arizona State University on full scholarship as a Regents’ Scholar. During this time he was awarded a College of Fine Arts Travel Grant, a Graduate Research Development Grant, as well as the Jacob Kenneth Heller Award for Printmaking. From 1999 to 2004 he served as a Faculty Associate at ASU teaching graduate and undergraduate levels of intaglio, relief, and screen printing, including a study abroad course in relief printmaking which has held in Cuernavaca, Mexico where he and his wife have a house and print studio. From 2004 to 2013 he was the Studio Manager and Master Printer for Segura Publishing Company where he collaborated with artists such as Elizabeth Catlett, Graciela Iturbide, Vik Muniz, and James Turrell. Since 2003 he has worked as Master Printer for Tiny Satellite Press. In May of 2009 Brent founded Santo Press, a fine art publishing company focusing on original limited edition relief prints by emerging and mid-career artists, that has since released over 88 editions by 22 different artists. In the past 25 years he has had 14 solo exhibitions and participated in 184 group, invitational, traveling, and juried exhibitions. He has completed public art commissions for the Yucca Branch of the Phoenix Public Library, the Chandler Public Library, the Phoenix Zoo, and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.  Permanent collections include the ASU Art Museum, Tempe, AZ; Fototeca del INHA (national photo archive), Mexico City; Hayden Library Special Collections, Tempe, AZ; Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum, Mesa, AZ; Northlight Gallery – ASU; Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, AZ; the Tucson Museum of Art; and the University of Arizona Library Special Collection.As a printmaker, photographer, and mixed media artist he is an object maker and with his photo based and multi-media installations addresses space and time in relation to the viewer. His photographic portfolios have been published by Tiny Satellite Press, Scottsdale, AZ. His print studio was selected for inclusion in The Vandercook 100, published by Just Vandy in 2012. His own print work and that of Santo Press is featured in Contemporary American Print Makers, published by Schiffer Publishing, 2015. Most recently his endeavors were showcased in the exhibition Accomplice: the Collaborative Works of Brent Bond and Santo Press held at Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum from October of 2013 to February of 2014 and in the 2014 exhibit Ink: Three Generations of Printmakers at Art Intersection in Gilbert.
